Meet the owner

Ashley Carter, tutor certified by the National Tutoring Association (NTA), Title 1 Tutor for Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS), and the owner of Minds Matter Tutoring. She is the only tutor in Lafayette parish certified by NTA; and one of three tutors certified by NTA in the state of Louisiana. Ms. Carter has been a private tutor of students dozens of students and an educational advocate for herself and her own 2 children for many years, including own child who has dyslexia and mild inattentiveness. Ms. Carter has taken and passed all state required teaching certification exams, required to obtain a teaching certification in the state of Louisiana. She scored an average of 30 points over the required passing scores for teacher certification in the state of Louisiana; and is currently in the process of becoming a classroom teacher. She is also  LETRS trained.

Ms. Carter was TOPS recipient who was on the honor roll literally her entire life (since kindergarten). She graduated with double majors in Finance and Management; and a minor in Accounting from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Ms. Carter also has passing scores on both sections of the Praxis teaching exams and in currently enrolled in an alternative teaching program. 

Ms. Carter truly enjoys educational breakthroughs, seeing students thrive and helping children learn in the way that it best and beneficial to them. She is currently employed as a full time tutor in the Lafayette Parish School System. The mission and goal of Minds Matter Tutoring is to provide affordable, quality tutoring services to families.
